FAQ
What is this for?
Dropping in placeholder words lets you check text wrapping, line height, truncation, font fallback, and right-to-left layouts before launch. Lorem ipsum only covers Latin letters, so this tool fills the gap for scripts like Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Hindi, Arabic, Thai, Russian, and Hebrew.
What does the "Word:Space Ratio" do?
It sets how many words are joined together before a space. At 1:1, every word has a space after it. At 4:1, four words are joined into one long string, then a space. This is handy for testing long unbroken strings, like URLs or usernames.
What is pseudo-localization?
It turns English into accented look-alike text wrapped in brackets, like [Ŵåţéŕ ğåŕðéñ. one two]. Each sentence is also padded about 35% longer, since translations often run longer than English.
Use it to spot text that was never set up for translation (it shows up without accents), text cut off by a container (the closing bracket goes missing), and layouts that break when the text gets longer.
How does punctuation work in each language?
Each language uses its own marks. Chinese uses , and 。, Japanese uses 、 and 。, Hindi ends sentences with ।, and Arabic uses ، with text written right to left. Hebrew is also right to left. Thai uses a space instead of commas and periods. English, German, Russian, and Vietnamese sentences start with a capital letter.
What do the presets do?
They fill in "Words", "Sentences", and "Paragraphs" with common sizes: Button (2 words), Heading (5 words), Tooltip (1 sentence), Paragraph (60 words), and Article (400 words in 5 paragraphs). Button and Heading also turn off the period at the end. You can still change any number afterward.
What do the copy and download formats look like?
Text is plain text with a blank line between paragraphs. JSON array puts each sentence in its own item, ready to paste into code. HTML wraps each paragraph in a <p> tag, with lang and dir attributes for languages other than English.
How do my own words work?
Each language keeps its own list of your words, and they save in this browser. When "Only use my words" is off, about 1 in 4 words comes from your list, so your words show up often without taking over. Turn it on to build text from your words only.
Which fonts does the text box use?
Lexend for English, German, and Vietnamese, Noto Sans SC, JP, KR, and Thai for Chinese, Japanese, Korean, and Thai, Poppins for Hindi, Readex Pro for Arabic, and Rubik for Russian and Hebrew. Fonts only change how the text looks here, copied text is plain text.
Can I use the generated text in commercial projects?
Yes. Use it in any personal or commercial project, like websites, apps, games, or client mockups. No credit is needed.
Is anything sent to your servers?
No. Text is generated right in your browser. Your settings and your words are saved on this device only, and clearing your browser data removes them.
